Writer’s Room Promises to be Write Stuff

On the eve of all of the Dexter seasons at last being available on Blu-ray in NZ, the show’s writers will come under the spotlight in a new SoHo documentary series called The Writer’s Room.
It goes to air on November 21, when it will premiere with a behind-the-scenes insight into the writing of Game of Thrones.
The writers of Breaking Bad will feature the following week and Dexter on December 5.
The Dexter episode will follow the November 27 release of the final season on Blu-ray, along with two earlier seasons, four and seven, which inexplicably weren’t circulated here the same time they went on sale in Australia.
No word on the extras for season eight or if Paramount (through Universal) will locally release the complete series collectibles (left and below).
It’s also not clear when SoHo will screen the other episodes in the series focusing on the free-to-air series Parks and Recreation, New Girl and American Horror Story (it’s no coincidence the first three screen on SoHo).
The Hollywood Reporter called the six-part series “a fun look at the mostly unknown faces who have created some of the best shows on TV” and thought it “much frothier” than the pretentious Inside the Actor’s Studio.
Variety said it “relies heavily on the wit of those participating, but in terms of celebrating TV’s best and brightest, it’s still an interesting exercise of navel-gazing about the creative process”.
